Banning books is just another form of bullying. It's all about fear and an assumption of power. The key is to address the fear and deny the power.

About This Quote

The failure of the Spanish Inquisition is a very well-known example of censorship. The failure was not in its intentions or in its actions, but rather in the fact that the church was attempting to suppress people’s beliefs. The church believed that they were providing for the safety of their flock by keeping people from learning certain facts. Instead, it didn’t work.

It actually made things worse because now people were more aware that there were facts that they weren’t supposed to learn. The church ran into this problem again when they attempted to ban books, which resulted in much more resistance.
